Stain Guard Application

Cleaned but unsealed.  Cleaning was with Composite Deck Cleaner and pressure wash rinsing.

Unsealed

Stain Pad application of Stain Guard. A 9” pad spreads the product evenly, wets the whole face of two boards at a time, including the grain embossed depressions, are easiest to work with, go the quickest, and conserve the product best.  NO BACK BREAKING BRUSHING! This 450 square foot deck took 1.6 gallons of product.  A little over one gallon was used on the first coat.  In the hour it took to do the first coat the first part of the deck was ready for the second coat.  The second coat used only about a half a gallon.

Sealed.  Looks great.  While “shinier”, this will abate as dust gets on the deck.  The key is the deck is protected.  Spills and normal dirt aren’t on the surface of the composite but “are up on top of the protectant finish” where they can be much more easily, and usually thoroughly cleaned off.  Stain Guard “HELPS REALIZE THE PROMISE” of composite decking.

Difference between the board on left done with Stain Guard and board on right which is unprotected by Stain Guard.  Stain Guard protects against mold and reduces fading, too!  “Honey, don’t come home without it!”, another of our motto’s.

Not for use on extremely smooth composites like exotic wood simulations as peeling and lack of absorbent penetration can occur.  Stain Guard is for combed surfaces, grain embossed surfaces, and non-glossy and non-waxy surfaces where there is both wood fiber content for penetrability and surface relief for mechanical adhesion.
